Career Best Finish for Sarah Burgess in Utah
TOOELE, UT, August 31st 2018 – Sarah, Bridget and the BMI Racing team didn’t have to travel far for the Utah Off Road Nationals, which were the next rounds of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, that was held at Utah Motorsports Campus in their new home town of Tooele UT.
Sarah got straight in to the speed of things in her #97 Gear Alloy Prolite with practice, hitting her marks and respectively placing 2nd, 6th and 3rd on Thursday.
This would be the first time a night race had ever been held at Utah Motorsports Campus, and Sarah would be starting on row 4 for round 7 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. The green flag dropped and Sarah and her #97 Gear Alloy Prolite hooked up on the BFGoodrich KM3 Tires and battled hard to move forward, while defending from the hits from behind. Sarah finished the race strong, and a career best 5th.
Qualifying for round 8 during the day proved to be tough with a group qualifying session that had cautions and mistakes from other drivers hampering a quality lap from Sarah. Starting from row 4 again in front of a packed house at Utah Motorsports Campus, Sarah wanted to maximize the speed of her Gear Alloy Prolite. Unfortunately penalized for an apparent rough driving call, Sarah fell back to 14th and managed to drive her way up for a 9th place finish.
Bridget was able to get some seat time her #8 Bubba Burger Prolite at Utah Motorsports Campus the week before as she raced in the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series, putting down some solid laps times and getting used to the ever changing track surface. Bridget continued on her path of gaining experience in the extremely tough prolite class, and had a strong weekend in her #8 Bubba Burger Prolite finish 11th in round 7 and 13thin round 8.
