Sarah Burgess and BMI Racing Helps Grow the Prolite Class in The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series

LAKE ELSINORE, CA, April 19, 2018 – Sarah Burgess and BMI Racing continues to reach new ground and help the growth of the prolite class in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. BMI Racing has brought in Bridget Burgess to compete in their second truck for the 2018 season. Creating one of the few mother/daughter race teams in the history of motorsport that are actually competing against each other in the same class.

Sarah who has had the opportunity of mentoring teenagers and young adults said, “Through the relationship of our partners such as Gear Alloy and BFGoodrich®, this amazing opportunity has come to fruition. We have been able to educate Bridget and give her a skill set that includes fabrication and communication and that is priceless”. This opportunity hasn’t come easy for Bridget, spending her time between home schooling and in the workshop being a part of the build of her truck.

The packed grandstand was an excellent backdrop for the first round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and a great way to start the year. Sarah hit the track for qualifying and while she didn’t get the spot she was looking for she knew she had a competitive truck.

The green flag dropped and the prolite field roared into action. Sarah started her Gear Alloy truck in 12th and proceeded to pick the competition off one by one, making great progress moving forward up to 7th place, but with a cooling issue on the transmission her race came to an end on the last lap finishing 11th.

The goal for Bridget in her first LOORRS race was to complete as many laps as possible and avoid trouble. Bridget showed great car control and sensibility on the track avoiding many incidents that appeared without warning. Bridget finished 12th for round 1 and is currently sitting 3rd in the Rookie of the Year points battle.

Sarah and Bridget Burgess and the BMI Racing team head south to Estero Beach in Ensenada Mexico for Rounds 2 and 3 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.
