TOOELE, UT, September 27th 2018 – The BMI Racing team headed to Glen Helen Raceway for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Golden State Off Road Nationals presented by Mike Thompson’s RV Super Stores.
Practice kicked off on Thursday with Sarah showing good speed in the large and competitive field. This speed continued through to qualifying and earned Sarah and her Gear Alloy Prolite a starting spot on the 4th row for round 9 on Friday night.
The green flag dropped and the field of 18 prolite trucks went roaring across the start line. Sarah’s race started off well as she maintained her 7th position, navigating her way around the track and working on moving forward. Unfortunately, on turn 4 of lap 3 Sarah and the Gear Alloy Prolite was taken out of the race by another driver, quoted by the commentator as “being punched into the corner”, ending her day.
A new day with a fresh opportunity, Sarah hit the track for qualifying only to have a differential failure on the first lap, putting her last on the grid (9th row) for the race. The green flag dropped in front of a huge crowd, Sarah and the Gear Alloy Prolite battled hard throughout the night finishing 12th.
Bridget also represented the Gear Alloy brand at Glen Helen Raceway for round 9 and 10 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Due to some engine issues on Friday night limiting her to just one lap, she came out fighting for round 10 on Saturday night. Bridget is now running a new rear shock package from Fox similar to Sarah and the #97 truck and is looking forward to what the truck will do in Arizona.
Sarah and Bridget Burgess are looking forward to the final weekend short course offroad racing when the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Bushwacker Off Road Nationalspresented by Lucas Oil Products heads to Wild Horse Pass in Chandler AZ on Saturday 20th October and Sunday 21st October.
