Tough weekend for Sarah Burgess and BMI Racing in Mexico

LAKE ELSINORE, CA, May 23, 2018 – Sarah Burgess and her team from BMI Racing headed down to Mexico for rounds 2 and 3 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, with a focus on a successful weekend of racing.

Saturday kicked of with qualifying in the morning and while the truck felt good overall there were some complications with the steering – something that has never caused an issue in the past. The team did everything they could to repair the problem, but the gremlins were still there and the best Sarah could do was circulate the Gear Alloy Prolite finishing 12th for round 2.

Sunday was another day and time to start fresh; Sarah went out to qualify here Gear Alloy Prolite only to be face with power steering issues once again. The BMI Racing team worked diligently through the break to get to the source of the problem and take care of the issue. Starting from 12th in the field Sarah’s spotter Kurt LeDuc gave her some great advice for when the green flagged dropped, getting Sarah all the way to 7th place by lap 2. Due to some heavy contact the valve stem broke on the front passenger wheel and the tire developed a slow leak causing the truck to not handle at it’s optimum. Sarah finished 9th overall.

Due to Bridget Burgess injuring her ankle earlier in the week she used this opportunity to gain experience and seat time.

Sarah, Bridget and the BMI Racing Team want to thank the city and people of Ensenada Mexico for their warm hospitality and enthusiasm for off road racing.

Sarah and Bridget Burgess and the BMI Racing team head east for rounds 4 and 5 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series held at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland MO.
